Controller

Fangamer is looking for an experienced accountant to head up our finance team as Controller. This should be someone who is excited about accounting, eager to get our books into shape, and importantly someone that fits in with our work culture. You will be overseeing our AR/AP clerks and our Staff Accountant (SA), whom you will be working closely with on a daily basis. We see this position as the senior partner to our SA, with both roles sharing many of the same responsibilities. As such, we are looking for someone with strong communication and management skills as well.

Who we are:

Fangamer is a video game merchandise company headquartered in midtown Tucson, Arizona. We got started in 2008 with one goal: to celebrate our favorite games by creating the kind of merchandise we want to own. We focus on keeping our processes in-house as much as possible, from product conception and design to packaging, order fulfillment, and customer service. While we do not have actual in-house production/manufacturing (aside from owning the company that prints our apparel in Tucson), we do work directly with factories to develop and manufacture our products, which are either sent to us ready to sell, or passed to our in-house "Prep Department" responsible for QCing and packaging the products for sale.

What we need from you:

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage general finances, and the finance department, for Fangamer and its associated entities (real estate, manufacturing, and regional distribution)
• Handle yearly performance reviews for department members
• Manage the information flow into and out of the department
• Become an authoritative source of knowledge about financial relationships between the entities
• Familiarize yourself with the departmental relationships and how they connect to finance

Treasury Management (domestic and international)

• Complete weekly cash flow for stakeholders
• In conjunction with the Staff Accountant:
• Ensure the companies' Accounts Payable are within terms at all times
• Monitor and balance AP/AR workloads
• Track and manage cash flow across entities
• Make daily decisions to support cash flow needs (e.g. delay, save up, or warn about large payments that will cause cash flow issues)
• Ensure payments are made as requested

Bookkeeping

• Oversee bookkeeping (bank reconciliations, expense categorization, etc) to ensure its finished in a timely manner
• Act as primary manager of the General Ledger
• In conjunction with the Staff Accountant:
• Reconcile accounts on a monthly basis
• Complete 1099 processing at the end of each year while keeping W9's up to date

Manage State and Local Taxes

• Communicate with stakeholders about tax issues
• In conjunction with the Staff Accountant:
• Work with contractors to ensure SALT requirements are monitored and complied with
• Establish and maintain government registrations
• Ensure taxes are paid in a timely manner
• Ensure Shopify sales taxes are applied

Some interaction with International Taxes

• Work with our 3rd party tax vendor to ensure prompt processing and payment of VAT
• Monthly filing for select countries
• Prepare and deliver financial reports/information in collaboration with our CPA and internal data team

Prepare financial statements for all entities monthly/quarterly/annual basis

• Provide year-end financials and workpapers to CPA for tax purposes
• Provide requested financial documentation to bank to secure loans, lines of credit, etc
• Provide year-end financial reports (and other intermittent reports as requested) for CEO
• In conjunction with the Staff Accountant:
• Respond to audit requests

Background includes:

• Mastery of QuickBooks Online and integrated apps
• 5+ years of experience in an accounting department
• 5+years management experience
• Bachelor's or higher in Finance or Accounting is preferred
• Experience with a plus

Base Salary:

$75-90k/year, commensurate with experience
