Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial operations of our organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in accounting principles, financial management, and regulatory compliance, with a focus on ensuring accurate financial reporting and effective cash management. This role requires a strategic thinker with advanced knowledge of accounting software and financial concepts, capable of leading the accounting team and supporting organizational growth. The Controller will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and other regulatory standards while providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and account reconciliation.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, IFRS, SOX, and relevant regulatory reporting requirements.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial statement preparation.
- Lead the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard assets.
- Prepare detailed financial reports, analysis, and forecasts to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.
- Supervise the accounting team, providing mentorship and ensuring accuracy in financial data entry and reporting.
- Oversee cash management activities to optimize liquidity and working capital.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other financial management tools for accurate recordkeeping.
- Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure compliance and transparency.
- Monitor industry regulations affecting nonprofit or governmental accounting as applicable to organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong background in public accounting or governmental/non-profit sectors highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in financial concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, account analysis, account reconciliation, debits & credits, budgeting, forecasting, and regulatory reporting.
- Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other relevant tools; experience with financial software integration is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SOX compliance standards, and technical accounting principles.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data into clear reports for stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing finance teams effectively.
- Exceptional organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail in balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger management. Pay: $ $88.48 per hour
