About this Role:

Under close supervision of the Staff Services Manager I, the Student Assistant will provide support to the Provider Reimbursements Unit, working in a learning capacity, on elements of the Physician Non-Physician Practitioner Program (PNPP), Martin Luther King Jr. - Los Angeles (MLK-LA) Program and the State Veteran's Homes Supplemental Reimbursement Program (Vet Homes). PNPP is a Certified Public Expenditure program that provides supplemental reimbursement to eligible government-operated hospitals and their affiliated government-operated physician practice groups, for the uncompensated Medicaid costs of providing physician and non-physician practitioner professional services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. MLK-LA provides supplemental reimbursement to the Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital. Vet Homes provides supplemental reimbursement to State Veteran homes that are owned and operated by the State of California and are eligible to receive supplemental payments for uncompensated care costs for providing skilled nursing services to Medi-Cal beneficiaries. The student assistant will assist in supplemental payment program and health program policy research, and process payments and recoup payments when necessary.

Telework Information

This position is currently eligible for telework up to three days per week and is required to report in person a minimum of two days per week. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS' Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
