Company Accountant – Construction Industry Experience Required

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various accounting practices, including corporate accounting, non-profit accounting, and governmental accounting. This role requires proficiency in financial concepts, GAAP compliance, and the ability to prepare and interpret financial statements. The Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP.
- Conduct account reconciliations, including balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger reconciliation.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
- Perform journal entries and maintain accurate bookkeeping practices.
- Conduct cash flow analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with SOX regulations and other applicable laws.
- Provide support for tax preparation and regulatory reporting.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, and other financial software for efficient record keeping.
- Mentor junior staff members in accounting practices and procedures.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Assist with auditing processes as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of financial management principles, including accrual accounting and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial report writing and analysis.
- Familiarity with securities law, wills, trusts & estate law is advantageous.
- Experience in public accounting or private equity is preferred.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial information.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy in all tasks performed.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
