JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Assistant Men's Varsity Soccer Coach
DEPARTMENT: Athletic Department
REPORTS TO: Head Men's Soccer Coach
PURPOSE OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to assist the head coach in the development and growth of the men's soccer program at Dordt which will support the mission of the university, as well as bring a knowledge and passion of the game of soccer to students, with a commitment to excellence and bringing glory to God.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the head coach in developing and implementing daily practice plans.
- Primarily work with the attacking unit.
- Help design and implement breakdown work with individuals.
- Help organize and conduct off-season conditioning, playing, and lifting plan/program.
- Support and assist with recruiting efforts.
- Actively monitor and encourage academic progress.
- Oversee all meals and travel arrangements.
- Other duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A clear understanding and commitment to the Reformed perspective and mission of Dordt University and ability to clearly articulate and communicate the mission effectively.
- Ability to express an active Christian commitment, which shall include identification with a local organized church that holds to beliefs that are consistent with the mission of the university.
- Prospective members of the Dordt University community are expected to agree with its sexuality, gender identity, and sexual conduct policy which can be found on the DU website (contact the HR Office if you need additional information).
- Understanding and commitment to the mission of Dordt University.
- Bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 1-3 years of related experience.
- Knowledge of and ability to teach soccer skills and fundamentals.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with student athletes, athletic officials and all University's constituents
- Effective verbal and written communications skills
- Ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Knowledge of NAIA regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student athletes.
