The Pier Learning Center is looking for a Special Education Instructional Assistant (grades K-8) for the school year that will serve students with ASD or other related disorders.

The Special Educational Instructional Assistant will be responsible for supporting the teachers in building the capacity of the Pier Learning Center to meet the learning and behavioral needs of all the students.

· Candidates must have a Para educator License or 2 year Degree or higher preferred.

· Be able to support implementation of behavioral plans and instructional strategies as directed by the Special Education Teachers by demonstrating strategies, modeling effective behavioral intervention strategies, and assisting with individual or team planning and problem solving.

· Ability to work with students in a small group setting.

· Able to tutor students (academically and socially).

· Able to take direction and work collaboratively.

· Able to attend to personal hygiene of students.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Primarily responsible for coaching and social skills.

· Responsible for documentation, record keeping and data collection that will assist in functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans.

· Positive, caring and patient, and be a collaborative team member.

· CPI certified or ability to become certified.

· Ability to redirect students to positive behaviors.

· Assist with material preparation, including those needed for behavioral management.

· Ability to lift 50 pounds

The employee must be able to sit, stoop, bend, and walk as needed on a daily basis. While performing duties within this job, employee may be exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions and a noise level that can range from mild to loud.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
