The Opportunity
Cincinnati Children's is seeking a visionary, collaborative leader to serve as Division Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. This high-impact leadership role is central to the development of the Mental and Behavioral Health Institute (MBHI)—an ambitious effort to integrate psychiatry, psychology, and developmental behavioral pediatrics into a unified model of care.

The Division Director will oversee a large and diverse team delivering care across inpatient, outpatient, residential, and school-based settings, while also helping shape institutional strategy, workforce development, and academic programming in mental and behavioral health.

The Division
The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (DCAP) at Cincinnati Children's is a nationally respected program with 44 faculty, supported by 175+ social workers and clinical counselors. The division delivers a full continuum of care—from home- and school-based support to acute inpatient services—across seven sites, 70+ schools, and a new 99-bed psychiatric facility at the College Hill campus.

In FY24, DCAP Handled

  • 57,812 outpatient visits
  • 6,756 ED encounters
  • 5,691 partial hospital visits
  • 31,160 inpatient days
  • 8,060 residential days

The division also maintains a nationally recognized research program with $5M+ in annual funding, focusing on areas such as neurodevelopmental disorders, suicide prevention, and translational neuroscience. Educational offerings include a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship and a Triple Board Residency, each approved for four trainees per year.

The division is committed to inclusive, culturally informed care and maintains strong community partnerships, making it both a local leader and a national thought partner in advancing youth mental health.

The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking a leader who brings:

  • Academic rank of Associate or Full Professor
  • Extensive clinical operational experience, especially in inpatient psychiatric care
  • A collaborative, team-based leadership style
  • Strong strategic and operational skills in complex systems
  • A commitment to education, research, and community engagement
  • The ability to unify disciplines under a shared vision for whole-child mental health

Experience in translational research, program development, or health systems innovation is highly valued.
