Job Description:

The Director of Community Enhancement will provide leadership and general oversight to the department. This position will be supervised by the Deputy County Administrator for Community Development and works under the general direction of the Board of Supervisors and the County Administrator. The Director will develop and coordinate a variety of special and continuing housing programs and oversees staff reviews of land development proposals to determine compliance with state code and county code regulations. The Director provides administrative leadership to implement goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards to meet the department's mission. The Director will consult with citizens, partner organizations, and staff of county, state and federal governments to coordinate community enhancement initiatives. Also, the Director will engage with homeowners' associations, and business and civic groups to achieve desired outcomes.

Qualifications:


• Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant post-graduate coursework/training.


• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible redevelopment planning experience in a comparably sized or larger community with similar "aging" challenges, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Individuals with an equivalent level of training and/or experience are also strongly encouraged to apply.


• Certified Zoning Official or Certified Zoning Administrator credential and Certified Property Maintenance Inspector is a plus.


• Ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills with extensive code enforcement and budget knowledge.
