JOB SUMMARY
Saint Louis University's Center for Environmental Education and Training (CEET) is seeking a highly motivated and community-focused Program Coordinator to support an EPA funded environmental workforce development program. This part-time position (average 30 hours/week) is critical to building partnerships with community-based organizations (CBOs) and local job centers, recruiting and screening participants from underserved communities, and supporting their success through environmental remediation training and into employment. The Program Coordinator will also help coordinate wraparound support services to reduce barriers and promote long-term job placement outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

45% Community Outreach & Recruitment
• Establish and grow partnerships with community-based organizations, faith-based groups, and workforce agencies to identify and recruit program participants.
• Conduct outreach presentations to promote the program and connect with individuals who are under- or unemployed.
• Screen prospective students to ensure they are a good fit for the training and future employment in environmental remediation and construction-related fields.
• Collaborate with area job centers for candidate referrals and co-host recruitment events.
20% Participant Support & Case Management
• Identify barriers to training or employment (e.g., transportation, childcare, literacy, criminal history) and refer participants to appropriate CBO partners for assistance.
• Maintain regular communication with participants to encourage engagement, attendance, and completion.
• Provide individualized support to enhance student retention and long-term success.
15% Training & Scheduling Coordination
• Coordinate training calendars in collaboration with instructors and venue hosts.
• Communicate logistical details with trainers and students to ensure smooth program operations.
• Monitor class rosters, attendance, and training progress.
15% Employment Support & Job Center Coordination
• Build relationships with area employers in construction, demolition, and environmental remediation (lead/asbestos abatement, disaster response, etc.).
• Work closely with job centers to support participants with resume writing, interview preparation, and job placement.
• Track employment outcomes and maintain employer engagement for future hiring opportunities.
5% Reporting & Administrative Tasks
• Maintain participant files and contribute to documentation required for EPA grant reporting.
• Provide status updates to the Program Director regarding outreach, training, and placement efforts.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Proven experience in community outreach, workforce development, or case management.
• Strong public speaking and group presentation skills.
• Experience working with underserved or marginalized populations.
•Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to participant needs.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel locally throughout the St. Louis metropolitan area and East St. Louis, IL.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods, both indoors and outdoors, during site visits and community outreach events.
• Ability to sit and work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally (e.g., program materials, training supplies) to set up classroom training and / or outreach events.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, social work, education, environmental studies, or communications).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital tracking systems.
• Driver's license and reliable vehicle for transportation to partner sites
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Familiarity with construction trades, environmental remediation, or disaster recovery fields.
• Experience partnering with job centers or career service providers.
• Bilingual abilities (Spanish preferred).
