for an Accounting Technician 1 (Marine Mammal Accounting Technician 1) located in Fairbanks
What you will be doing:
This position will assist the Arctic Marine Mammal Program within the Division of Wildlife Conservation in Fairbanks. This position is responsible for providing accurate, comprehensive, technical, and specialized examination and verification of accounting/fiscal data plus audit reconciliation and payroll support, property management and other administrative support functions for the Statewide Marine Mammal Program staff based throughout Alaska.

The working conditions you can expect:
This position is based at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game office, on the scenic Creamer's Field Migratory Waterfowl Refuge located in Fairbanks at 1300 College Road. Individual desk space is provided within a shared office with minimal privacy.

We are looking for an individual with the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications such as State of Alaska IRIS, Microsoft Office, including Excel, TEAMs and Outlook, databases, and other automated systems to accomplish work.
- Strong written, verbal, and detail-oriented communication skills with the ability to communicate information.
- Ability to remain organized with accounting processes, email management, and trackers; be thorough when performing work and display of a high level of effort and commitment.
- Attention to detail while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment to ensure accurately entering data into multiple systems, reviewing documents, processing and routing to necessary staff.
- Time management skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities from several sources while working independently with minimal supervision.

Special Note:
A valid driver's license is required.
One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
Substitutions:
Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
