The Community-Based Learning (CBL) Liaison, under the guidance of the Associate Dean of Community-Based Learning and Social Accountability and the Director of Community-Based Learning, will coordinate and support the community-based learning experiences for 1st and 2nd year Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine Students based in New Mexico as part of the Mission Medicine Curriculum.
The CBL Liaison will work closely with the Associate Dean of Community-Based Learning and Social Accountability, the Course Director(s) for Mission Medicine, the Director of Community-Based Learning, and the Office of Community-Based Learning. Key responsibilities include collaboration with community partners in New Mexico, providing student support, coordinating student placements with partner sites, providing administrative and operational support, and assisting with community partner recruitment efforts.
The selected candidate will support Burrell College's organizational health initiatives, focusing on enhancing leadership, promoting clarity of purpose, improving communication, and reinforcing a respectful, purpose-driven culture. This role is key to fostering a healthy, high-performing organization that values integrity, transparency, and collaboration.
- This position is Nonexempt.
- This position reports to the Associate Dean of Community-Based Learning and Social Accountability.
- While this position is grant-funded, we do expect the grant funding to continue.
- The salary for this position is $50,000 annually - $24.04/hour.
Examples of Duties
Community Partner Engagement and Collaboration
- Serve as a liaison between New Mexico community partners and the main Burrell College campus.
- Support the Director in recruiting and coordinating community partners and venue sites.
- Identify and engage relevant community organizations to support recruitment efforts.
- Help facilitate networking between Burrell College and community partners to build and strengthen relationships.
- Maintain accurate records and report on community partner engagement to the Office of Community-Based Learning.
- Ensure all community partners have current and appropriate credentialing documentation on file.
- Support the Director in coordinating and facilitating the completion of affiliation agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between Burrell and community partners.
Student Support & Academic Coordination
- Assist in tracking student progress toward fulfilling community-based learning requirements for the Mission Medicine 1 and 2 courses.
- Collaborate with the Director and the Office of Community-Based Learning to develop and distribute community-based learning schedules for first- and second-year students and community partners.
- Help coordinate student placements at community venue sites in New Mexico.
- Assist in managing the evaluation process for students and community partners.
- Advise students on a range of topics, including academic program policies and accessibility; serve as a liaison between students and community partners in New Mexico.
Administrative and Operational Support
- Assist with updating the learning management system with session scores from community-based learning reflections/assignments.
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments, and travel arrangements if needed.
- Collect and analyze data from multiple sources and prepare reports.
- Attend regularly scheduled team meetings.
- Serve as a subject matter resource to other departments and represent the unit or department as needed.
- Contribute to the development of marketing materials and strategies; assist in planning and executing program activities and outreach events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize information.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with absolute confidentiality.
- Working knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to make decisions independently or to escalate issues as needed.
- Marketing and networking experience are assets.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and planning skills that reflect the ability to prioritize competing demands and complete action items efficiently with minimal supervision.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or three to five years of related experience, preferably in a healthcare and/or education setting.
- A personal cell phone is required.
Preferences:
- Experience in a healthcare and/or education setting.
- Working Knowledge of the Leo Learning Management System.

- Approximately 90% of this position's duties require the use of a computer.

- Travel is required; eligible for mileage reimbursement for required travel.
Work Schedule:
- Typically, Monday through Friday, 8 am-5 pm
- Occasionally requires evenings and weekends for special events
