Job Description:

Our 2026 Summer Internship program is a wonderful opportunity for rising 2027 graduates to immerse themselves in an innovative and mission driven culture. Our 10-week paid internship program will provide you with hands on mentorship, an opportunity to add real contribution to our company via your internship project, and a possible job offer at the end. You will have the chance to make lifelong friendships, expand your network, and learn all about what it's like to work in a high-growth, fast scaling tech unicorn. Over 10 weeks, the Communications Intern will support Shield AI's storytelling efforts by creating and refining content that highlights the company's mission, technology, and people. The intern will contribute to writing and editing blog posts, social media copy, and press materials, while also helping ensure consistency across Shield AI's communications. The internship will culminate in a final deliverable of an original written piece published with accompanying social media promotion, showcasing the intern's work and the company's innovation.

  • Develop and publish compelling written content that highlights Shield AI's mission, technology, and people.
  • Strengthen message consistency and storytelling across Shield AI's digital channels through clear, engaging communications.
  • Project impact on the business/team:
  • Expands Shield AI's content library with high-quality stories that elevate brand awareness and thought leadership.
  • Supports the Communications team by completing ad hoc tasks and improving workflow, messaging alignment, and audience engagement across platforms.
  • How this supports the intern's specific career path:
  • Provides hands-on experience in corporate communications, content strategy, and storytelling for a leading defense technology company.
  • Builds a professional writing portfolio featuring published work and experience collaborating with communications and marketing professionals.
  • Project deliverables:
  • One original written blog piece published on Shield AI's website.
  • Accompanying social media promotion.
Required qualifications:
    • You are an undergraduate, graduate or PhD student expected to graduate in December 2026 or Spring 2027.
  • Strong writing and editing skills.
  • Excellent research, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with digital and social media platforms (LinkedIn, X/Twitter, etc.).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, take feedback constructively, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Interest in technology or defense, with curiosity to learn and communicate complex topics clearly.
KPIs & Milestones:
    • Timely completion of all milestones and deliverables.
  • Demonstrated improvement in writing clarity, structure, and tone over time.
  • Positive feedback from Communications team on content quality and collaboration.
  • Published content achieves measurable engagement (views, clicks, or shares) across Shield AI's digital channels.

$26 - $46 an hour

Rising Bachelor's graduate = $26/hour

Rising Master's graduate = $36/hour

Rising PhD graduate = $46/hour

Housing stipend provided, amount based on location

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check. Military fellows and part-time employees are not eligible for benefits.
