Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery showcases local farmers and food artisans through its grocery, food hub, and foodservice operations. The Kitchen Assistant General Manager assists the Kitchen General Manager in responsibilities for all foodservice-related operations at SRCG, including but not limited to: our cafe, bakery, butchery, and special events.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS● Responsible for the overall performance, efficiency, and profitable operations of the Kitchen and cafe departments● Assists in the management of the Kitchen and Cafe departments; holds each responsible for effectively directing their teams, meeting financial metrics, consistent execution of recipes, and excellent food safety● Must be a strong people manager- able to manage in the moment, direct on the floor and have exceptional follow up● Responsible for determining and adjusting production par levels for all areas of cafe● Remains constantly aware of daily Kitchen and Cafe operations; ensures all teams are aware of and are actively working on priorities, prompts managers to anticipate issues and collaborates with them to solve problems● Conducts daily walkthroughs to ensure cleanliness, organization, and FIFO standards are being upheld● Creates a robust training regiment with managers and employees and verifies the effectiveness of training of new hires and promotions● Actively addresses the quality and consistency of Kitchen and Cafe products by communicating clear standards● Coordinates internal ordering of ingredients and supplies● Adjusts and communicates service strategies based on business volume to align team roles and expectations● Covers management shifts in Kitchen and Cafe as needed ● Attends and conducts interviews, reviews, and meetings as assigned● Develops tools and resources to streamline processes● Acts as a liaison between all departments; ensures pertinent information flows to the correct people in a timely and complete manner● Actively monitors all operational and managerial Slack channels addressing company needs with awareness & urgency● Provides supervision, support, and direction in such a way that promotes clear understanding, accountability and efficiency, and follows all policies, procedures, and laws ● Is able to handle multiple requests, questions, and concerns simultaneously and naturally prioritize which item needs to be resolved first● Responsible for recognizing & addressing high priority issues across all departments such as staff productivity, cleanliness, quality● Executes various projects as assigned● Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and ordinances relating to food safety and kitchen facilities● Fosters and supports a positive and engaging work environment which embraces and supports diversity, equity, and inclusion to create trust and integrity with internal and external customers and co-worker● Complies to and ensures compliance of all related food safety, health & sanitation regulations, workplace safety, and weights and measures according to SCDHEC, other applicable laws and company policies and regulations as necessary.● Can perform basic maintenance troubleshooting to ensure business stays safe and in operation. Oversees equipment maintenance, record keeping, and sanitation activities● Finds efficient use for downtime for the team (cleaning, restocking, dishes, etc)● Models strong customer service and provides on-the-spot training for employees whose skills could use a refresherJOB REQUIREMENTS● Must be 21 years of age or older● Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation and displays the Swamp Core Values● Must have a good working knowledge of Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs)● Must have a valid driver's license and meet the requirements of the Swamp driving policy ● Must communicate through company designated platforms including, but not limited to Slack, Paylocity, and email.● Is an active part of the Swamp Team so adheres to high standards of service, quality, and presentation● Take initiative to help any area of the business if possible● Perform other duties as assigned and requested.
