Job Title: Program Coordinator – Food Shelf and Mobile Food Pantry

Job Summary: The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the organization's Food Shelf and Mobile Food Pantry Programs;

ensuring neighbor-preferred food, services and dignified experience.

Reports to: Program Manager

Classification: Non-Exempt (Full Time)

Salary Range: $21.25 (Median) to $25.50 (Maximum)

Job Location: Duluth, MN

Essential Functions:

  1. Cultivate positive relations with program participants, agency and community partners, volunteers, donors, staff and other constituents upholding our organization's commitment to treating all with fairness, dignity and respect.

  2. Keep up to date on industry trends, have working knowledge of the Feeding America Partner Food Bank Agreement requirements, information contained on HungerNet, and the Learning Hub, as it relates to the Food Shelf and Mobile Food Pantry Program Coordinator position.

  3. Coordinate the organization's programs Food Shelf and Mobile Food Pantry Programs. Serve as secondary support to the Nutrition for Seniors, BackPack and School Pantry Programs.

  4. Support strategy to engage neighbors with lived experience of food insecurity to inform programs and ensure dignified, equitable and low-barrier access to fresh, healthy and culturally appropriate foods.

  5. Support a data driven strategy to engage neighbors with lived experience of food insecurity to inform agency and community partners and enhance our region's hunger-relief system.

  6. Assist in managing the maintenance, implementation, training, support and utilization of Service Insights on Meal Connect (SIMC), Ceres, and other programmatic technology in collaboration with staff, agency and community partners, vendors, program participants, volunteers and others. Assist in managing Resourceful as an organizational back-up contact.

  7. Secure and maintain accurate statistics, records, and documentation and ensure collection and timely reporting, internally and externally, to regulatory and non-regulatory partners and others.

  8. Cultivate positive relations with, and ensure a broad-based understanding of, non-profit, public and private programs that benefit the people we support including but not limited to: our agency and community partner's programs, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC), School Breakfast and Lunch Programs, etc.

  9. Optimize the organization's program utilization by regularly conducting outreach in collaboration with marketing staff, agency and community partners and others. Serve as a resource and referral to neighbors for other available food security programs.

  10. Support achievement of industry standards for program operation. Actively participate in education and training as it relates to this responsibility.

  11. Ensure completion and implementation of required training (personal and food safety; civil rights, etc.) to ensure dignified and safe food access; personal safety of staff, volunteers, program participants and/or others working at/visiting organizational facilities and/or program sites.

  12. Ensure compliance with all program agreements, contracts, work plans and their related policies and procedures including, but not limited to, Feeding America, state and federal agencies, agency and community partners and other contractors. Provide training and ensure external compliance by agency and community partners, volunteers, and others.

  13. Work closely with the operations department to ensure sound management of product inventory related to programs.

  14. Work closely with the development department to ensure respectful collection and ethical use of testimonials and stories from programs of neighbors with lived experience of food insecurity.

  15. Assist in representing the organization at regional meetings and events relevant to and programs.

  16. Other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and/or Director of Partnerships and Programs.

Qualifications Required:

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience/education (one to three years)
  • Knowledge of non-profit programming; interest in hunger issue or related social services
  • Strong customer service, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organization skills and an attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, exercising initiative and sound judgment
  • Ability to work as a team with various staff members
  • Computer proficiency including experience with Microsoft 365
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation (position requires regional travel)
  • ServSafeâ Certification or equivalent (may be required/obtained following hire)

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Knowledge of, or experience in, the non-profit industry
  • Connection to NE Minnesota and NW Wisconsin non-profit program community

In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Second Harvest is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.
