In-House – Mortgage Servicing Compliance Attorney

Location: Anaheim Hills, CA (On-Site)

Salary: $125,000 - $150,000 (Salary negotiable based on experience)

Overview: FCI Lender Services, Inc., a nationally recognized mortgage loan servicing company with over 43 years of experience and a servicing portfolio exceeding $26 billion of active loans, is seeking an experienced in-house Attorney to serve as Mortgage Servicing Compliance Attorney.

This position works directly with FCI's Senior Compliance Attorney and executive management to oversee and enhance FCI's mortgage servicing compliance program, ensuring full adherence to federal and state loan servicing regulations across all 50 states.

Responsibilities

  • Partner directly with the Senior Compliance Attorney to manage and enhance FCI's compliance programs, policies, and reporting.

  • Oversee internal reviews and investigations related to servicing compliance.

  • Collaborate with department heads (Audit, Collections, Foreclosure, Customer Service, etc.) to resolve compliance matters.

  • Identify areas of potential compliance risk and develop corrective action plans.

  • Monitor and interpret new and evolving federal and state mortgage servicing laws.

  • Draft and approve revisions to company policies, procedures, and disclosures.

  • Provide regulatory interpretation, guidance, and training to servicing departments.

  • Respond to inquiries and investigations from regulatory and consumer agencies.

  • Support vendor oversight and compliance management system implementation.

Experience & Knowledge

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in the mortgage industry, preferably in loan servicing compliance.

  • Strong working knowledge of RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, and SCRA.

  • Proven experience with state and federal servicing laws and regulations.

  • Experience managing regulatory examinations, audits, and escalated agency inquiries.

  • Knowledge of multi-state licensing and compliance requirements.

  • Legal drafting and analytical skills related to real estate and mortgage servicing.

Education & Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) required; LL.M. or J.S.D. preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
