Housing Supervisor

Pay: $26.50/hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (with flexibility as needed)

Job Summary: The Housing Supervisor (Navigation) supports and motivates a team of approximately 5–7 Navigators and maintains a small caseload as needed. This role ensures that the Navigation team conducts ongoing needs assessments, supports clients through personal housing plans, and advocates for individuals using trauma-informed, client-centered practices. The Supervisor works closely with the Regional Director to address challenges and implement solutions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Housing Navigation
- Maintain a caseload of 5–7 clients and meet based on client needs
- Demonstrate leadership to ensure service quality and uphold agency values
- Apply harm reduction and client-centered practices
- Use crisis prevention and intervention skills as needed
- Assist clients in recognizing strengths and identifying needs
- Maintain knowledge of and refer to community resources
- Keep accurate, up-to-date case files, including service plans and notes in CalOptima Connect
- Facilitate regular case conferences and collaborate with shelter operations teams
- Complete documentation timely to ensure agency reimbursement
Team Management
- Supervise 5–7 Navigators to support optimal performance
- Train and support new Navigators with daily responsibilities
- Conduct quarterly quality control reviews of case files
- Provide guidance on complex client cases
- Coordinate staff training and orientations
- Facilitate individual check-ins and team meetings (bi-monthly or as needed)
- Conduct 90-day probation and annual staff reviews
- Approve absence requests and monitor mileage reimbursements
- Review and process financial assistance requests
- Ensure compliance with program documentation standards and data entry into HMIS and CES
- Promote a positive, professional, and safe work environment
Miscellaneous
- Support the Emergency Shelter Program Manager in daily operations when needed
- Attend staff and community meetings as assigned
- Participate in relevant trainings to enhance service delivery
- Collaborate with Shelter Program Managers to support shelter operations
- Stay informed on rehabilitative, mental health, and substance use treatment services
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Psychology, Sociology, or related field
- At least 1 year of experience working with homeless individuals and individuals living with mental health conditions
- Candidates with less than a BA/BS degree but with at least 2 years of direct life experience working with long-term homeless, low-income, and diverse populations, and with a working knowledge of mental health and recovery, are welcome to apply
- High level of tolerance and understanding for individuals who present for services with urgent multiple case management and health needs
- Ability to perform crisis intervention as needed
- Management, supervisor, or lead experience preferred
General
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluency in Spanish is of significant value
- Strong organization and time-management skills
- Ability to maintain a positive and professional environment while on duty
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to communicate effectively and respectfully both verbally and in written form
- Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
- Must have excellent problem-solving skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
