This role will drive all aspects of OFCI—vendor relationships, contract execution, pricing strategy, milestone tracking, and risk mitigation.
This is a foundational role with immediate impact on cash flow planning, delivery timelines, and our ability to scale repeatably.
While the position will leverage existing backoffice technologies, processes and policies; the head of procurement will be responsible for creating and implementing the necessary playbook to enable Menlo Digital to execute a full procurement strategy. This position will directly report to Menlo Digital's CTO, based in Northern VA.
Specific responsibilities include:
1. Vendor Management & Contracting
- Vet and onboard vendors for OFCI-eligible equipment
- Coordinate MSA execution in partnership with legal and leadership
- Ensure vendor accountability for lead times, submittals, pricing accuracy, and technical compliance
- Act as the single point of contact for all vendor escalations
- Level technical bids from multiple vendors
- Negotiate on behalf of Menlo Digital, working to find the best value for spend
2. Equipment Procurement
- Maintain and evolve the OFCI tracker across all active sites
- Ensure alignment between vendor quotes, project design, and delivery schedules
- Own purchase timing for long-lead equipment (switchgear, UPS, gensets, chillers, etc.)
- Coordinate with finance for milestone payment forecasting and budget visibility
3. Process Development
- Build internal SOPs for OFCI procurement, from vendor outreach through delivery
- Create standardized templates for pricing review, delivery tracking, and internal approvals
- Support decision-making on what stays in OFCI vs GC scope
4. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Engineering to ensure equipment aligns with BOD and CD design
- Partner with Development, Construction, and Finance to meet schedule and budget targets
- Support Commissioning planning by coordinating equipment documentation and delivery status
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- 5+ years of procurement or sourcing experience in construction, infrastructure, or manufacturing
- Strong contract negotiation skills and experience managing MSAs
- Familiarity with major data center MEP vendors and OFCI best practices
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple packages across multiple sites
- Experience standing up procurement processes in a growth-stage environment preferred
- Ability to adjust to ambiguity and grow into a larger role over time
· Prior experience in data center, technology infrastructure, or large-scale deployment is preferred.
· Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and attention to detail, capable of supporting complex negotiations.
· Demonstrable efficiency with getting tasks completed timely and within planned parameters.
· Decisiveness and process orientation sufficient to anticipate and address opportunities and problems that arise.
· Unshakeable integrity and a history of open, honest, team-oriented service to all stakeholders of the organization.
Base Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
This position is eligible for a semi-annual bonus and other forms of incentive compensation based on the successful completion of defined performance objectives. Incentive compensation includes a semi-annual bonus and synthetic participation in carried interest attributed to data center investments. Historically, bonus and incentive compensation has been a material portion of overall compensation for employees and various programs will be covered during the interview process.
We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical and dental insurance, VSP, and a firm sponsored 401K plan with a safe harbor matching component.
