Front End Developer

Our think tank policy client is looking for a Frontend Developer (WordPress) to join their team on a contract. This position is 40 hours a week.

You will be tasked with managing the WordPress-based site and affiliate microsites. You will ensure optimal performance, security and scalability across platforms/devices. You must have extensive experience working within custom WordPress sites.

Duties Of The Frontend Developer (WordPress)

• Manage and maintain WordPress sites, ensuring stability, security, and performance
• Lead Pantheon hosting operations, including environments (dev/test/live), deployments, caching, and DNS
• Troubleshoot bugs, optimize site speed, and ensure SEO and WCAG accessibility compliance
• Implement updates, plugin integrations, PHP upgrades, and custom code enhancements
• Maintain Git-based version control and CI/CD pipelines
• Translate design mockups (Figma/Adobe XD) into responsive, accessible WordPress templates
• Integrate third-party APIs (CRM, analytics, HubSpot) and ensure GDPR compliance
• Use JIRA and Confluence for sprint planning, issue tracking, and documentation

Requirements Of The Frontend Developer (WordPress)

• A minimum of 5 years of full-stack development experience with deep WordPress expertise (custom themes/plugins)
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern frameworks (React, Vue, etc.)
• Experience with Pantheon or similar managed WordPress hosting platforms
• Strong knowledge of Git, MySQL, CI/CD, and deployment best practices
• Skilled in responsive design, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA+), and cross-browser compatibility
• Excellent debugging, optimization, and communication skills
• Familiarity with JIRA and Confluence in agile environments
• Experience with API integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce).
• Knowledge of Google Tag Manager, GA4, and SEO strategies.
• Understanding of web security protocols (SSL, CSP, OWASP).
