Job Summary (Jr Software Developer / Engineer)

  • Position: Junior Software Developer / Engineer
  • Duration: 12+ Months (Contract)
  • Location: Washington, DC (Hybrid; onsite 2x per month)

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain back-end solutions using C# and .NET 6.
  • Implement and optimize algorithms for numerical analysis and mathematical modeling.
  • Design and maintain RESTful APIs.
  • Integrate back-end services with front-end applications.
  • Translate mathematical equations and formulations into executable back-end code.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a high-visibility project environment.
  • Apply strong object-oriented design and software architecture principles.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Applied Mathematics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in backend software development with C# and .NET.
  • Strong proficiency in C#, including asynchronous programming and LINQ.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of algorithms and data structures.
  • Hands-on experience with numerical computation, mathematical modeling, or algorithmic problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Git or other version control systems.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Preferred / Nice To Have

  • Experience with grammar or expression parsing (e.g., converting formulas into C# functions).
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (TypeScript, React) for integration purposes.
  • Knowledge of macroeconomics, econometrics, or quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Experience with testing frameworks and CI tools.
  • Exposure to time series data.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid model: on-site presence required twice per month.
  • High-visibility project under the CIO.
  • Opportunity to contribute to the next phase (Phase 2) of the IMFe project.
