Fuel Attendant/Customer Service Rep

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Station Manager and Area Manager, the Fuel Attendant is responsible for assisting customers at the pump, handling transactions, maintaining fuel station equipment, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. This role plays a key part in delivering a positive customer experience and supporting overall store operations.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Customer Service Duties
- Welcome and make eye contact with all customers when they enter the store (Ex. "Welcome to H&S, or Welcome to Chevron") and professionally represent the company at all times.
- Consistently maintain a professional, courteous attitude when dealing with customers
- Manage the customer's checkout procedures when they purchase products.
- Performs the Four Steps of Customer Service with all customers to ensure an excellent Mystery Shop review and total customer satisfaction.
- Offer current promotional items to all customers.
- Offer credit card applications and information to all customers.
Cash Register Duties
- Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system accurately to process cash, debit, and credit transactions.
- Issue receipts, refunds, and credits as needed. Perform cash drawer balance at the end of each shift.
- Ensure all money drops following company policy.
Visual Communications
- Stock and maintain all shelves, store displays, and coolers to ensure they are visually appealing to customers.
- Make sure all promotional signage is in good condition and displayed in key areas to maximize effectiveness.
- Ensure that all prices are displayed correctly for each product.
- Make sure all damaged and expired items have been removed from the shelf and set aside for the Station Manager.
- Keep the food and beverage area clean, neat, and well-stocked with all necessary items
Food and Beverage Handling
- Ensure all hot food and beverages are fresh and stored at proper temperatures.
- Clean and sanitize coffee machines, fountain stations, roller grills, and other food prep areas.
Maintenance/Cleanliness/Safety Duties
- Stock and organize shelves, coolers, and displays to maintain a visually appealing store.
- Ensure promotional signage is displayed properly and pricing is accurate.
- Remove expired, damaged, or defective products and notify the Station Manager.
- Keep the food and beverage station clean, stocked, and well-maintained.
Miscellaneous
- Follow all shift duty schedules and company policies.
- Check identification for age-restricted purchases (e.g., tobacco, lottery, alcohol).
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Skill Set
Candidates must be available to work any shift, Sunday through Saturday, to support the company's business needs. Strong communication skills are required to interact effectively with customers, teammates, and management. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated with the ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
Multitasking is essential in this role. The Fuel Attendant must be able to provide excellent customer service while assisting at the pump, handling transactions, checking inventory levels, and ensuring a clean and safe environment. Attention to detail is critical to maintaining safety standards and compliance with fuel station procedures.[CG1]
Knowledge/Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, though not required. Basic aptitude and understanding of POS systems are beneficial. Some prior customer service experience is preferred, as is the ability to communicate effectively and interact positively with both customers and teammates. CPR and First Aid training is considered a plus. Candidates should have strong adaptability, multitasking, and decision-making skills to succeed in this role. Basic computer proficiency is required.[CG2]
Software, Tools and Equipment:
You may be required to use and familiarize yourself with the following software, tools and equipment that are essential to the job: Computer w/ internet and e-mail capabilities, Microsoft Excel[CG1] , step ladder, car wash, coffee brewer, fountain machine, cappuccino machine, convection oven, roller grill, and all chemicals associated with general maintenance and cleaning.

As a team member you will represent H&S Energy. While you are on the job, H&S Energy expects you to wear clothing and accessories that are appropriate in a professional business environment. Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position requires the ability to perform numerous physical activities that involve the use of hands, arms, and legs, along with full-body movement. Fuel Attendants must be able to stand for prolonged periods, bend, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift materials as needed. Frequent lifting, grasping, and carrying of inventory and equipment up to 50 pounds is required.
Proficient hand-eye coordination is essential for operating the POS system and stocking displays and coolers. Effective communication skills are necessary to receive instructions and provide information to customers and team members. The position requires working both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and rain.
