Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Maintenance Crafts Manager to work on our Maintenance Crafts team. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our SMC Desert Site Facility facility with every Friday off.

In this role you will supervise the conduct of maintenance in compliance with standard INL maintenance plans, procedures, standards, and guides. You will also provide direct oversight of work and support to SMC Maintenance Technicians. Responsible for the safe and effective execution of maintenance activities including custodial, janitorial, snow removal, security escorts, and labor type duties for the SMC facilities and buildings and equipment operation services in accordance with approved Conduct of Maintenance processes and approved maintenance procedures.

May require back shift and weekend support as required to support SMC production goals and schedules. Exercise discretion and independent judgment in performance of traditional management duties including selecting and training employees, work assignments, pre/post-job briefings, walkdowns, coaching, motivation, disciplining, problem solving, performance appraisals, and salary and merit/promotion considerations.

Responsibilities Include

  • First level of management to work group with human resource responsibilities (hire, discipline, termination, pay action, etc.).
  • Provide direct first line management to professional individual contributors and/or skilled support individual contributors.
  • Act as guide to work group or sub-work group and may become actively involved, as required, to meet schedules and resolve problems.
  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.
  • Execute and implement approved policies, budgets, and procedures.
  • Monitor daily staff performance, reporting, and for methods and procedures development, input to budget, policy proposal, and for the development of tactical strategies for improved operational efficiency.
  • Set priorities, resolve escalated matters and checks results at frequent intervals.
  • Monitor work, tools, and processes for accuracy and completeness against plans and standards.
  • This position will require demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental compliance by actively supporting and implementing the philosophies and principles of Conduct of Operations and Integrated Safety Management, ensuring as the highest priority, compliance with Federal and State regulations and Conduct of Maintenance Standards.
  • Exercise leadership by providing clear directions, empowering employees, properly delegating responsibilities, recognizing and acknowledging contributions of others.
  • Ensure compliance to LWP-6200 and Integrated Safety Management.
  • Supervise Asbestos work as needed.
  • Coordinate large outage work scopes that will require several different disciplines to accomplish the job completion.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma and at least 8 years of relevant experience in facility maintenance, utility systems, forklifts, fabrication, and equipment operation services.
  • This position requires a current/active Department of Energy (DOE) "L" or "Q" clearance or equivalent "TS" or "SCI", which requires US Citizenship.

Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Experience in a lead/supervisor role in managing at least a small team (mentoring, training, etc.)
  • Familiarity working with large snow removal equipment
  • Working knowledge of Conduct of Maintenance, familiarity with Conduct of Operations, and a commitment to Maintenance Excellence is required.

Job Information

  • The target pay range for this position is $95,418 min - $147,041 annually. The full pay range is $78,282 - $181,296. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with people is required.
