, a mission-driven organization dedicated to ending homelessness in Silicon Valley. This full-time role is based in Santa Clara, CA, and offers a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in the office and the remaining days working remotely. The Vice President of Human Resources will be a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for shaping and executing the organization's people strategy while building HR infrastructure that supports growth, impact, and a thriving workplace culture.

LifeMoves is the largest and most effective provider of interim housing and services for people experiencing homelessness in Silicon Valley since 1987. Our mission is to end homelessness by providing interim supportive housing, tailored services, and building collaborative partnerships. With over two dozen interim supportive housing communities and more on the way, LifeMoves provides our neighbors experiencing homelessness with a temporary place to call home while offering whole-person care, including intensive, customized case management through site-based programs and community outreach. POSITION OVERVIEW:
LifeMoves seeks a Vice President of Human Resources to join our senior leadership team. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and working closely with the organization's leadership, the Vice President of Human Resources will serve as a trusted advisor and a critical member of the senior leadership team. The individual will be accountable for the people strategy of the Agency and must be able to balance tactical duties with building an HR infrastructure that scales with growth and supports the strategic direction of the Agency. This individual will proactively lead people programs to cultivate a positive culture and brand that attracts and retains top talent.

The Vice President of Human Resources will have responsibility for all aspects of the human resources function, including, but not limited to, talent acquisition and development, compensation, benefits, workers' compensation, employee training, organizational development, succession planning, DEI&B initiatives, and employee relations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate the Agency's human resource strategy and performance, consistent with the organization's mission and strategy.
  • Direct and oversee the Agency's recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes, diversifying the talent pipeline and aligning all efforts with the organization's mission and strategy while partnering with hiring managers to implement effective selection strategies.
  • Drive employee retention by creating and executing comprehensive, strategic recruiting and retention plans that address the organization's human capital needs.
  • Cultivate a positive and productive work environment by addressing employee relations matters and promoting engagement and satisfaction, while advancing retention through strategic recruiting and comprehensive human capital plans.
  • Partner with senior and executive leadership to align HR strategies with Agency objectives and effectively communicate HR-related information across the organization.
  • Design, implement, and manage compensation guidelines and structures that promote fairness, equity, and consistency across the organization.
  • Oversee the employee benefits program, ensuring offerings are competitive, cost-effective, and provide meaningful value to employees.
  • Lead and develop direct reports by example, providing guidance, motivation, and direction across all aspects of HR management, including team member selection, training, performance management, and development.
  • Administer annual employee performance reviews in a timely and effective manner.
  • Leverage technology and people analytics to monitor HR metrics, identify trends, and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Champion a culture of inclusion where individuals from all backgrounds, identities, and abilities can thrive, providing strategic leadership for diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives across all Agency processes.
  • Maintain compliance with all EEO, employment, benefits, and wage-hour laws and regulations.
  • Keep agency policies, procedures, and the employee handbook current, aligned with organizational frameworks, and clear to staff; develop new policies and procedures as needed.
  • Build and sustain a strong, inclusive management training program, ensuring all training initiatives support employee development and career progression.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and manage employee relations issues by building trusted relationships, partnering with managers to address performance challenges, providing employees opportunities to succeed, and implementing corrective measures when necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • True passion for LifeMoves' mission and commitment to ending homelessness, with a strong alignment with the organization's values and impact goals.
  • 10+ years of senior-level Human Resources experience, with non-profit experience strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field; PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience in strategic planning, implementation, and building HR infrastructure in growth-oriented organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of California labor law and HR compliance requirements.
  • Track record of successfully developing and executing HR strategies that drive organizational effectiveness and employee engagement.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, actionable feedback across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and ability to navigate complex, sensitive situations.
  • Experience leading organizational change initiatives and managing multiple priorities in fast-paced environments.
  • Proven leadership, management, and project management capabilities.
  • Comfort with public speaking and facilitating interactions at all organizational levels.
  • Skilled in using HR metrics, analytics, and technology to inform decision-making and improve HR processes; working knowledge of MS Office and HRIS systems.
  • Budgeting experience and accountability for the fiscal management of human capital.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, diplomatic, self-motivated, and driven by excellence.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders across employees, clients, and communities.
  • Familiarity with DEI industry standards and best practices, and their integration into people operations.
  • Ability to translate strategic plans into operational realities while aligning communication and resources.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive work environment that enhances motivation, productivity, and belonging.
  • Champion LifeMoves' vision, aligning decisions and strategies with organizational goals, and driving cultural change to support strategic priorities.
  • Demonstrate credibility, poise, and confidence while delivering clear, persuasive messages to teams, executives, and external partners.
  • Enhance systems, workflows, and processes to optimize performance and resource allocation for maximum impact.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to local LifeMoves sites, meetings, and conferences as required.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
This full-time Vice President of Human Resources position with LifeMoves offers a competitive annual base salary ranging from $163,631 to $261,810 (DOE), plus an exceptional benefits package that demonstrates the organization's commitment to investing in their leadership team.

LifeMoves provides a generous paid time off package, including 15-24 days of PTO (increasing with tenure) and 14 paid holidays annually, offering up to 38+ days off per year.
