Position Summary
The Network Engineer (L2) plays a critical role in supporting RTS client environments by delivering reliable, secure, and high-performance network operations. This role provides advanced troubleshooting, operational support, and configuration management across enterprise LAN/WAN, wireless, and security platforms. The L2 Engineer collaborates closely with senior engineers, client stakeholders, and cross-functional RTS delivery teams to ensure stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of network services.
Key Responsibilities
Network Operations & Incident Management
- Provide L2 support for network incidents, service requests, and escalations across client infrastructure environments.
- Troubleshoot issues related to routing, switching, wireless, VPN, DNS, load balancing, and firewall operations.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to minimize recurring incidents.
- Monitor network performance and proactively identify areas of risk or service degradation.
Configuration, Deployment & Change Control
- Execute network configuration updates, change requests, and device upgrades following established RTS and client change management processes.
- Support the rollout of new network hardware, firmware updates, and topology changes.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including network diagrams, runbooks, configuration baselines, asset inventories, and SOPs.
Network Security & Compliance
- Assist with firewall rule updates, IPS/IDS monitoring, and secure VPN configurations.
- Support vulnerability remediation and security policy enforcement in partnership with RTS security teams.
- Ensure alignment with client security standards, compliance frameworks, and RTS best practices.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to project initiatives such as cloud connectivity improvements, SD-WAN deployments, datacenter migrations, and Wi-Fi modernization.
- Collaborate with senior network engineers to design and implement performance enhancements and optimization activities.
- Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and streamline operational processes.
Client Partnership & Collaboration
- Engage with client SMEs, RTS Delivery Leads, and cross-functional teams across Infrastructure, Cloud, and Security.
- Provide clear communication and timely updates regarding ongoing incidents, changes, and service impacts.
- Support knowledge transfer and mentorship to L1 resources to uplift delivery maturity.
Required Qualifications
- 3–6 years of hands-on experience in network engineering, operations, or infrastructure support.
- Strong technical foundation in routing and switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, EtherChannel).
- Experience with firewall technologies such as Cisco ASA/FTD, Palo Alto, or Fortinet.
- Proficiency with VPN technologies, NAT, DHCP, DNS, load balancers, and wireless controller-based networks.
- Familiarity with monitoring and diagnostic tools (SolarWinds, Cisco Prime, Meraki Dashboard, etc.).
- Experience working in ITIL-based operational environments.
- Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco, Palo Alto, or Fortinet certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, PCNSA, NSE).
- Experience supporting SD-WAN solutions (Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, VMware).
- Exposure to cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Prior experience working in managed services or multi-client environments.
