POSITION OVERVIEW

This part-time position (approximately 8 hours per week) provides a broad range of administrative support to the Rabbi, Board Members, teachers, and volunteers. The Administrative Assistant will complete office clerical tasks, maintain a professional, welcoming office environment and assure that the day-to-day inventories of supplies are maintained.

The Administrative Assistant's primary responsibilities include creating and updating Congregation Emeth's various communications, including the synagogue's calendar and website, weekly emails to our members, social media updates and generating letters from the Rabbi, President or other Board Members to our members.

Some work can be completed from home using a personal computer, although most work will be done on site.

This position comprises the following three main components:

  • Facilities/Office Management: Examples include being an onsite resource for visitors, members, vendors, and facility contacts; supporting routine facility inspections and repair services; ordering paper goods, office and cleaning supplies and tracking expenses to budget; ensuring office equipment is in proper working order; checking and appropriately relaying or responding to phone and email messages.
  • Communications and Technology: Examples Include compiling and sending a weekly email via MailChimp, updating the member database, website and online calendar using ShulCloud Synagogue software, and producing programs/bulletins for special events.

  • Religious School and Event Support: Examples Include setting up for weekly and other services and events (in person and online), providing administrative and technical support for school programs and staff, creating and managing registrations through Signup Genius and ShulCloud and more.

  • Good organizational skills with the ability to understand and implement priorities in the face of competing demands
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills including willingness to work with others, maintain confidentialityand deal sensitively with a wide variety of people and organizational relationships
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Good publication layout skills and design sensibility. Experience with Google Suite, plus the ability to use or quickly learn software and systems commonly used in our office environment (e.g., MailChimp, ShulCloud, Canva)
  • Able to use good judgment and think strategically
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner
