We are seeking a highly skilled Senior AI/ML Engineer for our Defense Electronics Group. This role involves researching, designing and developing artificial intelligence and machine learning models and systems, and deploying them onto various hardware platforms, with a focus on neuromorphic processors. Further elements of this role are managing data pipelines, running experiments, and training models using programming languages like Python and frameworks such as TensorFlow and PyTorch. Strong technical skills in machine learning, programming, and algorithms is required, as well as effective collaboration with software, firmware and hardware developers, and business stakeholders to align AI solutions with mission goals.

Bascom Hunter's Defense Electronics division supports critical defense applications through innovations in Advanced Systems, RF Front Ends, Mixed Signal Products and Digital Solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop spiking neural networks (SNNs) and other neural architectures for neuromorphic hardware.
  • Integrate AI/ML algorithms with novel neuromorphic processors and edge computing platforms.
  • Research, design, and implement machine learning algorithms and applications with mission performance and optimization in mind.
  • Deploy machine learning algorithms and applications to various hardware platforms.
  • Build and manage scalable data pipelines for preprocessing, feature engineering, and data flow to train and evaluate ML models.
  • Train, test, and tune machine learning models, ensuring they meet quality standards and deploying them into production environments.
  • Monitor the performance of trained models, retrain them as needed, and optimize them for better performance.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hardware engineers, computer scientists, and neuroscientists.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in neuromorphic computing, neuroscience, AI and machine learning technologies and best practices to enhance products and capabilities.
  • Develop software models and write clean, efficient code in languages like Python and C++.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's (5-7 yrs) , Master's (3-5 yrs) , or Ph.D (1-3 yrs) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in AI/ML, particularly with deep learning, neural networks, and computer architecture.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C++ and Python.
  • Experience with hardware-software co-design and embedded systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to design and implement effective AI solutions.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active DoD Security Clearance preferred
