Position Summary:
Novus is seeking an experienced Process Control Engineer to provide technical expertise and leadership in the design, implementation, optimization, and support of process automation systems for LNG facilities and related energy infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable operation of process control systems—including DCS, PLC, and SIS platforms—throughout the project lifecycle, from design and commissioning to steady-state operations and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Control System Design & Configuration
- Develop and review control narratives, logic diagrams, and functional design specifications for LNG processes and utility systems.
- Design and implement advanced control strategies (e.g., compressor anti-surge control, BOG recovery, liquefaction optimization).
- Configure and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
- Ensure control systems are properly integrated with instrumentation, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Review vendor packages for control system compatibility, instrumentation, and automation requirements.
Project Execution & Commissioning
- Provide technical support during FEED, detailed design, and EPC project phases.
- Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), site acceptance tests (SAT), and system commissioning.
- Support control system installation, loop checks, and startup activities to ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Coordinate with project teams, vendors, and contractors to meet project quality and schedule requirements.
Operations & Optimization
- Provide ongoing support for control system performance and tuning to optimize plant reliability, energy efficiency, and product quality.
- Troubleshoot control logic, instrumentation, and communication issues across plant systems.
- Lead or support Management of Change (MOC) activities related to process control modifications.
- Implement and maintain alarm management and process safety systems per ISA 18.2 and IEC 61511 standards etc
Safety, Compliance & Cybersecurity
- Ensure all control systems comply with process safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain documentation and adherence to industry standards
- Support periodic safety system validation and instrumented function testing.
- Work closely with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure secure and resilient automation infrastructure.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Provide technical training and mentorship to operations and maintenance personnel.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, control logic standards, and knowledge bases.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives in automation and digital operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's in chemical, Electrical, or Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent discipline).
- Experience: 8–15 years of experience in process control or automation engineering within LNG, gas processing, or petrochemical facilities.
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong knowledge of DCS/PLC systems (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Yokogawa, Honeywell Experion, Siemens, ABB, or Allen-Bradley).
- Experience implementing safety instrumented systems (SIS)
- Familiarity with advanced control, alarm management, and data historian systems
- Understanding of LNG processes including refrigeration, gas treatment, and BOG Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE or P. Eng) license or prior EPC or owner/operator experience with LNG facilities management.
