About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Customer Quality Engineer (CQE) to join our Austin team. In this role, you will serve as the primary interface between our manufacturing operations and customers, ensuring that our cockpit, seat, console meet the highest quality standards. You will focus on proactive quality assurance, issue resolution, and continuous improvement in our injection molding, assembly, and development processes. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a startup setting, where you'll have the opportunity to shape quality protocols from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities

· Act as the key point of contact for customer on quality-related matters, addressing customer inquiries, complaints, and requirements promptly.

· Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues in cockpit, seat, console, production, including injection molding and forming defects, assembly inconsistencies, and development challenges.

· Perform on-site audits, process validations, and supplier quality assessments to uphold product integrity throughout the supply chain.

· Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, production, and R&D) to drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Six Sigma or Kaizen projects.

· Analyze quality data, prepare reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders and customer representatives.

· Support new product launches by participating in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities.

· Travel occasionally to our headquarters in China or customer facilities as needed for quality alignment and training.

· Other tasks assigned by Head of Quality / Quality Management

Qualifications

Required

· Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field)

· 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive or manufacturing industry, preferably in Tier 1 supplier environments

· Strong knowledge of quality management systems, tools, and methodologies (e.g., IATF 16949, ISO 9001, APQP, PPAP, SPC)

· Experience with injection molding, forming, and assembly processes

· Proficiency in root cause analysis methodologies (8D, Fishbone, 5-Why)

· Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, Excel)

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to interface with customers

· Experience managing customer complaints and implementing corrective actions

· Ability to work independently in a startup environment while adapting to evolving priorities

· Willingness to travel occasionally (domestic and international)

Preferred

· Master's degree in Engineering or Quality Management

· ASQ certifications (CQE, CQA) or Six Sigma Black Belt/Green Belt

· Previous experience in customer-facing quality roles at automotive Tier 1 suppliers or OEMs

· Experience with cockpit, seating, or console component manufacturing

· Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin (particularly valuable for China HQ coordination)

· Familiarity with advanced quality tools (FMEA, DOE, Kaizen, Lean methodologies)

· Experience with new product launch processes and startup operations
