Responsibilities
- Fabricate orthodontic appliances such as braces, retainers, aligners, and expanders based on detailed prescriptions from orthodontists.
- Use laboratory equipment including micrometers and CAD software to ensure precise measurements and designs.
- Maintain strict infection control and aseptic techniques during all fabrication processes.
- Collaborate with dental professionals to interpret dental impressions, models, and medical records for accurate appliance creation.
- Ensure all appliances meet quality standards and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality.
- Keep detailed documentation of fabrication processes and update medical records accordingly.
- Assist in the sterilization of tools and maintain a clean laboratory environment in compliance with infection control protocols.
- Stay current with advancements in dental fabrication technology, including CAD/CAM systems, to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical imaging related to orthodontics.
- Experience with dental office procedures such as chairside assisting, EMR systems like Epic, and medical documentation practices.
- Proficiency in dental fabrication techniques, including the use of CAD software and laboratory equipment such as micrometers.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance, infection control standards, and aseptic techniques within a clinical environment.
- Ability to interpret medical records, patient assessments, and medical coding related to orthodontic treatments.
- Excellent attention to detail for precise appliance fabrication and quality assurance.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry is a plus for handling cases involving younger patients.
