Job Summary
The primary responsibility of a Mechanical Engineer includes researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for ASI's robotic unmanned vehicles. Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as: engines, instruments, controls, robots, machines, etc. Conducts product testing and creates models and prototypes. Mechanical Engineers are also responsible for directing and coordinating activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems. Reports to a manager/supervisor and works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Work is closely managed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Research and analyze data including customer design proposals, specifications and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.Design products or systems for robotic control using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic principles and components. Participate in fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair activities that optimize utilization of machines and equipment.Design products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or systems malfunctions.Contribute to design reviews.Essential Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.0-2 years Mechanical Engineering related experience 0-2 years of Machine & Product Design experience Proficient design skills in CAD/ SoftwareExperience using math software like Matlab or MathcadMust have good technical writing skillsBasic understanding or some experience with GD&T.Familiar with stress analysis and thermal analysisBasic understanding of electrical circuit designFamiliar with strength of materialsUnderstanding of fatigueFamiliar with KinematicsExperience with finite element analysisSome exposure to electrical engineering preferred-
