Our client, the
National Mining Association (NMA)
is seeking a
Government Affairs Specialist
to help drive their legislative and regulatory agenda in support of one of America's most essential industries.
This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-paced policy environments, enjoys translating complex issues into actionable strategies, and wants to work at the intersection of energy, infrastructure, and national security.
What You'll Do
- Legislative Strategy & Research
: Track and analyze federal legislation, regulatory developments, and political trends affecting the mining sector. - Member Communications
: Draft and refine memos, updates, and meeting materials for key committees (CPTF, GAC), ensuring clarity and technical accuracy. - Political Engagement
: Plan and execute PAC fundraising events, liaise with congressional candidates, and manage outreach logistics. - Compliance & Reporting
: Oversee PAC filings (FEC) and lobbying disclosures (LDA), coordinating with external compliance partners. - Cross-Team Collaboration
: Support the SVP of Government Affairs and work closely with internal departments and member companies to advance NMA's advocacy goals.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Government, or related field
- Experience in government affairs, political campaigns, or as a congressional staffer
- Strong writing, editing, and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
- Working knowledge of campaign finance and FEC regulations
- A genuine interest in federal policy and the mining industry's role in the U.S. economy
