Position Overview
The Department of Labor is seeking an accomplished
Senior Project Manager
to lead medium to large-scale enterprise technology projects of moderate to high complexity and risk. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience managing both IT and business transformation initiatives in a fast-paced, hybrid environment.
This role will support a multi-year modernization initiative aimed at transitioning the Department's legacy business systems into a modern, cost-effective distributed environment. The modernization effort involves replacing legacy applications with Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions or internally developed applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and manage all phases of assigned projects in alignment with PMI best practices and the Georgia Department of Labor's Project Management Methodology.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
- Oversee risk management, quality assurance, and project governance activities.
- Manage stakeholder communications and reporting at all project levels.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Lead project teams through the full Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and testing phases.
- Ensure adherence to scope, budget, and timeline, while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Facilitate vendor management and oversee contract performance and deliverables.
- Conduct project documentation, progress tracking, and executive-level reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
is required. - Demonstrated success managing large, complex IT projects using
Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, or Kanban
methodologies. - Proven experience leading at least
two full-lifecycle Agile software development projects
(initiation through deployment/warranty) with teams of 10+ members. - Experience managing enterprise-level IT projects that involve software application development and implementation.
- Expertise in requirements gathering, business process documentation, and full SDLC execution.
- Strong collaboration experience with vendor partners in solution delivery.
- Exceptional communication skills—oral, written, and presentation—with strong analytical and negotiation abilities.
- Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Proficiency in
MS Project Professional, SharePoint, Visio, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
