Higher Education Servicing Corporation (HESC) is a private, non-profit student loan originator and servicing company as well as technology solutions provider for education loan lenders and servicing organizations.

Job Summary

HESC is looking for an experienced Business Development Manager to help lead the company in growing its products and services and by overseeing the development and implementation of sales strategies, including developing key relationships with existing and prospective clients.

The role will report directly to the EVP of Operations and will work in conjunction with other department leads and their teams including Operations, Loan Originations, IT and the President, as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with software licensing and third-party education loan originations and servicing customers to grow business
  • Act as lead for all loan originations, loan servicing and software system request for proposals (RFPs) and work with business teams to complete the proposals, gather all required documentation, and assist in the formal presentations
  • Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget, and resource needs, including the development and management of an annual marketing budget, profit/loss projections, expenditure spending, and other financial considerations
  • Attend and participate in industry conventions, conferences, and tradeshows including preparing displays and collateral as needed and providing post-event analysis
  • Oversee development of monthly, quarterly and ad hoc reports regarding sales activities
  • Hold meetings with key business teams to review pipeline, resolve challenges and present possible solutions
  • Report activities and sales updates to management and company boards if/when necessary

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, finance or related field of study
  • 7+ years of experience in sales and/or business development with demonstrated success
  • Experience in successfully selling and growing products or services as well as development of client relationships
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Exceptional leadership and management skills
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills
  • Proven ability to plan and manage budgets
  • Self-starter with initiative and ability to take on a high level of responsibility and accountability
  • Highly detail oriented with superior organizational and time-management skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects with shifting deadlines and/or prioritizations
  • Capable of working well collaboratively or independently
  • Exhibit high degree of professionalism and be able to adapt to a wide variety of situations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Must be willing and able to travel nationally for extended periods of time

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the education lending, financial services or financial software industry
  • Master's degree in business administration, marketing, finance or related field of study
