The SPLC is seeking a Data & Research Analyst to conduct research and analyses to support our Policy Research Department
The Policy Department Data Analyst conducts quantitative research and analyses to support our policy research agenda, state and federal legislative priorities, while translating the results for general audiences.
Who You AreExperienced. Demonstrated experience in big data, political data analysis, database creation and management for policy research. Proficient in data analysis software.
Researcher. Ability to effectively research and analyze data to produce rapid responses.
Analytical. Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve problems quantitively and/or qualitatively and make sound decisions based on available information.
Advocate. Demonstrated experience showing commitment to social change.
Effective communicator. Ability to effectively articulate research findings to various audiences.
Collaborative. Demonstrated ability to work with internal departments, external organizations, and stakeholders to execute specific policy research strategies to advance the work of the Policy department.
Mission, Vision & Culture Alignment. Demonstrates an understanding of and a commitment to SPLC's mission, vision and values.
What You'll DoConduct statistical and descriptive analysis across each of our core issue areas.
Collect, process, and maintain data, including establishing best practices for data collection and storage.
Present data to discuss and support legislative strategies to gain success and impact.
Serve as primary contact to support dashboards and coordinate technical vendors and/or partners.
Participate in team meetings, and with external stakeholders and coalitions.
Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.
Minimum QualificationsWe are committed to equitable hiring practices; therefore you must meet the minimum qualifications to be considered for the role.
- At least three (3) years of big data, political data analysis, database creation and management; and
- At least a bachelor's degree in Statistics, Information Sciences or related field.
This is an exempt role, and the minimum starting salary is $73,832.00 annually. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Where & How You'll WorkThis role the following work designations options:
- Local Remote: Will work remotely but is expected to attend work-related activities that occur at the SPLC offices or in the states in which the SPLC operates.
- Telework: Will work at an SPLC office at least three days per week and may work two days per week from an alternative work location.
- This position will report to the Director, Policy Research.
This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions.
This position is represented by the Washington-Baltimore News Guild.
