Associate Vice President, West Region

Wilson & Company, Inc., Engineers & Architects is seeking an Associate Vice President to lead growth and client development efforts across Southern California and the West Region. This role will be responsible for expanding market presence, driving new revenue, and aligning talent with strategic demand. The successful candidate will act as a regional leader and coach—working closely with West Regional Management, Sales & Growth, and Phoenix office leadership to execute intentional staffing and business growth strategies that deliver measurable results.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Strategy & Assessment
Evaluate the firm's and West Region's Southern California strengths, weaknesses, and resource gaps to develop actionable growth priorities.
Support and execute Wilson & Company's long-term regional business strategy.
Team Engagement & Leadership
Lead, coach, and inspire local teams to achieve regional objectives.
- Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to align goals, expectations, and performance outcomes.
Foster a "One Company" culture that encourages collaboration across disciplines and offices.
Talent Planning & Hiring
Partner with West Regional Manager, Sales & Growth Team, and local leadership to identify and recruit key talent aligned with intentional staffing plans and regional growth priorities.
Support onboarding and professional development to strengthen delivery capacity in key market sectors.
Cross-Office Collaboration
Collaborate with National Practice Leaders, Sales & Growth Team, and regional practice leaders to leverage firm-wide capabilities.
Support relationship-building and strategic pursuits that connect West Region markets with national clients and programs.
Business Plan Ownership
Lead the development and execution of the Southern California business plan, ensuring alignment with regional and companywide strategic objectives.
Maintain accountability for KPI tracking and quarterly progress reporting.
Revenue & Win-Rate Targets
Drive pursuit and capture efforts that achieve new work wins equivalent to 20x personal base salary.
Maintain a disciplined win plan and pipeline to achieve the 2.1x total labor revenue target for the local office.
Pipeline & Market Intelligence
Build and maintain an accurate, prioritized business development pipeline.
- Conduct research on client Capital Improvement Plans, budgets, and programs to identify short- and long-term project opportunities.
Develop targeted pursuit strategies based on data-driven market intelligence.
Client Development & Relationship Management
Establish, grow, and sustain client relationships with key decision-makers in existing and target accounts.
- Translate relationships into strategic pursuits and capture plans that yield repeatable, sustainable revenue.
Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for high-value clients in Southern California.
Quality & Client Focus
Take personal ownership to ensure client satisfaction and quality delivery throughout the project life cycle.
Promote continuous improvement and responsiveness to client needs.
Culture & Collaboration
Model Wilson & Company's Higher Relationships culture through collaboration, integrity, and accountability.
Champion teamwork across the West Region to achieve collective success.
Deliverables & Metrics
Develop an Intentional Growth Plan for Southern California aligning staffing, pursuits, and revenue goals with company sector plans.
- Maintain a robust pipeline demonstrating capacity to meet the 2.1x total labor and 20x salary revenue targets.
- Produce quarterly KPI reports tracking bookings, backlog, and pipeline performance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred; ability to obtain licensure within a reasonable timeframe considered a plus.
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in business development, client management, or regional leadership within the A/E/C industry.
- Proven success leading business growth strategies, client acquisition, and team development across multiple offices or regions.
- Strong understanding of public-sector clients, capital programs, and transportation, infrastructure, or facilities markets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Ability to travel within the West Region as needed.
Pay Range
$290,000.00 – $310,000.00 Annually (depending on experience)
