POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for overall supervision and management of a safe, educational and
developmentally appropriate program(s) and according to R'Club's mission, philosophy
and standard of quality. Responsible for maintaining the facility, supervising staff and
children, building relationships with the school staff and faculty, and interacting with
parents and the community in a positive, professional manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Assures the safety, welfare and well being of the children who are in our care.
- Assures program compliance with all licensing, monitoring and agency requirements.
- Plans and develops programs which are innovative, interesting, educational, reflective of agency goals and values, developmentally appropriate, and responsive to the needs of the parents and communities being served.
- Institutes a curriculum involving diverse activities such as regular field trips, clubs and special programs like dance, music, martial arts, etc. as well as core components.
- Screens clients for eligibility and social service needs and maintains accurate waiting list when necessary.
- Assists in recruiting applicants for employment and follows hiring guidelines.
- Communicates staffing needs to Human Resources and Area Supervisors.
- Schedules and provides for adequate staff coverage in keeping with program requirements, licensing ratios and fiscal constraints.
- Provides effective leadership, supervision, training and professional development of staff.
- Evaluates all staff under his/her supervision and recommends for advancement opportunities if applicable.
- Builds and maintains a positive, supportive, caring relationship with staff.
- Provides honest, respectful, and frequent two-way communication, including rapid, constructive confrontation of performance and other issues.
- Provides challenging and exciting work/environment.
- Assists staff with individual learning plans/program goals and provides for flexibility of work duties of staff, i.e. job rotation, etc. whenever and wherever possible.
- Institutes ongoing center-based recognition of staff i.e., luncheons, staff party, etc.
- Builds and maintains a positive, supportive and caring relationship with the children, families of the children, school faculty and staff.
- Develops, maintains and submits accurate records essential for control, evaluation and reporting of program activities.
- Performs timely collections, recordings and submissions of fees and timely communications with central office.
- Orders program supplies and materials through purchasing procedures and standards and safeguards agency property and equipment.
- Manages the efficient use of fiscal resources.
- Assists with the development and implementation of a plan for the cleaning, maintenance and repair of agency owned and leased facilities and equipment.
- Assists in the development of annual budget for individual center.
- Orders and prepares meals and snacks in compliance with USDA and health department standards.
- Maintains passing scores during monitoring and licensing inspections and achieves very good to excellent ratings on satisfaction surveys and reports.
- Wears the appropriate clothing for position and identifies safety hazards and immediately corrects them or reports them to the appropriate party.
- Attends staff meetings, training events, workshops, etc. and maintains required level of training hours with required documentation.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires extensive contact with others and moderately complex
communications as a regular part of the job. Incumbent must exercise above average
degree of independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision under
circumstances in which agency policy, although generally well established in writing, is
open to interpretation. Errors in judgment could have serious consequences for
individual program as well as agency wide implications.
Must pass Parts I and II DCF screening requirements, including Early Literacy Training,
and fulfill the State's training requirements within 90-day probationary period. Must have
experience in developing curriculum plans and overall program scheduling. Must exhibit
effective communication and coordination of staff. Adheres to the procedure for
reporting child abuse. Must maintain valid First Aid and Pediatric CPR certificates. Must
present negative results on TB test and a fitness for job duties verification by a
physician. Must also possess a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance.
Must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of
others, be able to relate well to staff, children, parents and business clients and be
willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with R'Club's mission and program goals.
Must have the physical ability to lift children as needed or physically separate children as
needed and participate in housekeeping responsibilities. Requires ability to work beyond
scheduled time, be punctual and reliable and can be reached via telephone.
SCREENING QUALIFICATIONS:
BA/BS Degree with credits in early childhood education, 6 of which must meet the "staff
member in charge" criteria set forth by the Licensing Board. Requires at least 2 years
experience in related field (1 year in administration and 1 year of working with children.)
Half of the education requirement may be substituted for additional years of experience.
Must also have proven management and supervisory experience/skills. Must be willing
to obtain Director's or Administrator's Credentials as required by the State of Florida
within two years in position.
