IS EXPANDING AND SEARCHING FOR AN EXPERIENCED DIRECTOR of ARCHITECTURE

Director of Architecture will be responsible for planning, coordinating, scheduling, quality control and oversight of the design development and construction drawing production and delivery of Architectural, Engineering, and Interior Design Projects within the firm and managing the client expectations and relationships. Position requires independent action and decision making as well as the ability to supervise others. Director will provide production staff leadership and management to enhance the internal organization, processes and infrastructure and to ensure staff's adherence to the firm's production policy, procedures, schedules and commitments. Proactive client relationship maintenance and monitoring of project opportunities with existing clients. Cultivating new client and project opportunities and relationships. Must have a minimum of 15 years' experience in managing the production drawing operations in all phases within the Architectural/ Engineering field. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain project schedules with project management team;
  • Schedules and levels resources for projects;
  • Maintain workload projections and provide recommendations for staffing;
  • Ensures accurate schedule information and reporting;
  • Leads project team in strategic planning/scheduling sessions;
  • Develops initial program schedules and defining project milestones;
  • Develops detailed design schedules to define phasing for schematic, design development and contract documents;
  • Monitors the production processes and adjusts schedules as needed;
  • Monitors and reports on daily internal deliverables;
  • Enforces Office standards;
  • Project budgeting, monitors and reports status of Project Budgets vs. Actuals;
  • Development and monitoring of staff development plans including proper training;
  • Assist with new production staff hiring;
  • Assist with RFP/RFQ submissions as a technical and strategic resource.
  • Proactive client relationship maintenance and monitoring of project opportunities with existing clients. Cultivating new clients and project opportunities and relationships.
  • Establishes/enforces policies and procedures;
  • Ensures documentation for all phases conforms to QA/QC Standards;
  • Reviews weekly progress sets and completed phase drawings for QA/QC;
  • Principals and techniques of personnel supervision and management;
  • Legal considerations and responsibilities in construction;
  • Assists in resolving and/or identifying A/E coordination issues
  • Assists in the performance reviews of production staff
  • Manage the project schedules, master schedules and project deadlines to ensure projects are staffed and deadlines met.
  • Responsible for oversight and delivery of all project deliverables both internal review and external to clients, municipalities, consultants and contractors.
  • Reports directly to President and Vice President with daily updates on the progress of all deliverables.
  • Any other responsibilities as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensed Architect or Engineer in the State of Florida preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 15 years Senior management experience in an A/E firm;
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Engineering.
  • Experience with multi-family/healthcare/ALF/ILF/Senior Living projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Architectural and Engineering sequencing
  • Demonstrated experience as a Plan reviewer for constructability
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in managing multiple design project schedules
  • Experience using Microsoft Project scheduling software (version 2013)
  • Minimum of 4 years Architectural and Engineering Project scheduling experience preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years scheduling and leveling resources preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point, and Project).
  • Must have professional appearance.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be honest, focused, organized, flexible and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Must be able to work without supervision.
