About the Role

St. Stephen Baptist Church and The Family Life Center are seeking a dedicated and skilled Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of our multi-campus facilities. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all buildings, grounds, and equipment are well-maintained, functional, and provide a welcoming, safe environment for worship, recreation, and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and perform maintenance, repair, and upkeep of all church and Family Life Center facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, and general building systems.
  • Supervise custodial, groundskeeping, and maintenance staff to ensure timely completion of daily assignments and special projects.
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules, preventive maintenance plans, and work orders.
  • Inspect facilities regularly to identify maintenance needs, safety hazards, or areas for improvement.
  • Oversee setup and breakdown of facilities for services, events, and community programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, service contracts, and inspections.
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate with contractors for major repairs or projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and local safety regulations; maintain security and access control systems.
  • Collaborate with ministry leaders and Family Life Center management to meet operational needs and event requirements.
  • Participate in emergency response and inclement weather preparation as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related field; supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and preventive maintenance best practices.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond promptly to facility needs.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and ministry standards of St. Stephen Baptist Church.

Working Conditions

  • This position requires hands-on work, including occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs), use of ladders, and operation of maintenance equipment.
  • Must be available for flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to support worship services, events, or facility emergencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55, $65,000.00 per year
