Position Summary

The Technical Program Manager serves as the strategic and operational leader responsible for overseeing multiple, complex initiatives for a key customer. This role blends engagement management, program oversight, and technical coordination to ensure exceptional delivery outcomes.

The position requires deep collaboration across internal and external teams. Major focus on facilitating discovery sessions, extracting requirements, and producing detailed technical specifications that guide program execution. The Technical Program Manager ensures strategic alignment between business objectives and technical delivery, driving efficiency, transparency, and measurable results across all initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Governance

  • Lead and manage multiple cross-functional initiatives under a unified strategic program framework.
  • Establish governance processes, milestones, and KPIs to track progress and outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment of internal resources and customer priorities for on-time delivery, within a defined scope.
  • Maintain transparent program communication and executive-level reporting.

Customer Engagement & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for a key customer, ensuring expectations are met around satisfaction, alignment, and trust.
  • Facilitate high-value discussions to clarify needs, manage expectations, and define deliverables.
  • Collaborate with executives and technical stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks proactively.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships that foster long-term strategic partnerships.

Discovery & Technical Specification Development

  • Conduct discovery sessions to extract technical and business requirements with precision.
  • Document and translate requirements into actionable technical specifications for engineering and delivery teams.
  • Validate scope and requirements with all stakeholders before implementation begins.
  • Ensure clarity and accuracy in all documentation, minimizing misalignment and rework.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate efforts across departments including Engineering, Operations, Product, and Customer Support.
  • Connect diverse viewpoints and functions to establish unified program objectives.
  • Promote accountability and knowledge sharing among project teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process gaps and drive improvements to enhance delivery quality and efficiency.
  • Standardize engagement and discovery methodologies for consistency across programs.
  • Apply best practices in documentation, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support the evolution of program frameworks through innovation and digital enablement.

Supervision of Personnel

  • Direct or Indirect leadership of up to 5 people.
  • Oversight of cross-functional program.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in program management, engagement management, or strategic delivery leadership.
  • Proven track record leading complex, multi-disciplinary programs across enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in conducting discovery sessions, defining requirements, and developing technical documentation.
  • Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to navigate ambiguity and connect strategic and technical perspectives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Tableau, Infor SyteLine, and EDI.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong project management experience
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification preferred; Agile/Hybrid delivery experience a plus.
  • Experience leading strategic programs for major or enterprise-level customers.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation, systems integration, or large-scale operational delivery.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional leadership roles.

Professional certifications in program or engagement management.

Job Location

  • The position is fully remote, but up to 25% travel required to IEM facilities, supplier sites, compliance audits or conferences.
