What the job is about:

They need a Process Engineer who can help design, check, and support systems used in power plants—especially plants that burn fuel or use steam turbines.

What you need to do:

  • Make and review engineering documents that show how a power plant works (like flow diagrams).
  • Choose the right equipment for the plant, such as pumps, pipes, valves, and heat exchangers.
  • Understand how instruments and control systems in the plant work.
  • Do basic engineering calculations about fluids, heat, and equipment performance.
  • Help when a plant is starting up for the first time.
  • Use engineering software, especially SmartPlant P&ID.

Experience they want:

  • A degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
  • 5–7 years of experience working with power plants (especially at EPC companies or turbine makers).
  • Good understanding of how simple-cycle and combined-cycle power plants work.
  • Experience with turbine supporting systems and helping with plant commissioning.
  • Knowledge of safety studies like HAZOP and SIL.

Skills they look for:

  • Good at solving problems and analyzing things.
  • Able to work alone without much guidance.
  • Communicates clearly.
  • Works well with others, including international teams.
  • Comfortable using computers, especially Excel (knowing VBA is a plus or something to learn later).
  • Can travel occasionally (up to 10%).
  • Can join some meetings during Japanese business hours a few times a month.
