The Nigam Lab (Nigam Lab )) at the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine, Seattle Children's Research Institute invites applications for a Research Scientist III position. Work in the Nigam lab uses basic science and translational approaches to improve the care of children born with severe cardiac defects and how to protect the brains of sick pediatric patients. The lab seeks to elucidate and find novel treatments for the systemic inflammation that occurs after exposure to cardiopulmonary bypass, which is required for the majority of cardiac surgeries, and to protect the brain of patients who experience shock. Previous Research Scientists in the lab have been coauthors on a number of papers. Given the rapid progress of the project, there is a very good potential to be an author on high impact papers.

The successful candidate will perform laboratory procedures as part of ongoing research studies; assist in planning research experiments, their execution and data analysis; assist others in the laboratory with problem-solving and understanding molecular biology; and help maintain a constructive laboratory environment. Experience with neuroscience, flow cytometry, and/or coding would be helpful. The candidate will work closely with a post-doc and graduate/undergraduate students to plan and supervise several parallel lines of investigation.

Required Education And Experience
PhD Degree level in applicable science field/related field OR. Master's Degree in applicable science field/ related field plus minimum three (3) years of related experience OR. Bachelor's Degree or higher in applicable science field / related field plus minimum five (5) years of related experience with a robust publication record. Related work experience varies by lab / position, as it relates to the research projects and research field assigned to this position.

PhD in relevant specialty area or closely related field. Substantial prior experience in relevant area of research.

Compensation Range
$80, $121,073.00 per year

Salary Information
This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
