Overview
The Highlands is seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Food Expediter to join our team. In this role, you'll be responsible for ensuring that food orders are prepared correctly and delivered promptly from the kitchen to the dining room. Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll act as the key communication link between the kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain a seamless guest experience. This position offers flexible scheduling for both full-time and part-time roles, along with all the incredible benefits of working at The Highlands.Â

We are looking for Food Expo's in the following locations:

Main Lodge: You would expo food for our runners to deliver to our Slopeside Lounge at the base of the Heather run

Zoo Bar: You would expo food for our runners to deliver to the Zoo Bar at the base of our C6 lift.

Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
(including but not limited to,):

Primary Responsibilities (60–80%):

  • Coordinate the efficient flow of food orders from the kitchen to service staff
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared in the correct order and according to priority
  • Assist with final food preparation and plating
  • Check orders for accuracy, proper presentation, and appropriate serving temperature
  • Maintain cleanliness and uphold sanitation standards in the kitchen expediting area

Secondary Responsibilities (20–40%):

  • Deliver orders to guests when necessary to support fast service
  • Communicate special requests or dietary needs between guests, servers, and kitchen staff

Additional Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Education

  • ServSafe Certification (required or obtained upon hire)

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a kitchen or restaurant environment

Physical Demands
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Long periods of standing
  • Working in a warm kitchen with loud noise levels

Environmental Conditions

  • Ability to tolerate the heat and fast pace of a busy kitchen
  • May be required to step outside briefly (e.g., for deliveries or communication with other departments)
