Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Pharmacy Operations. This is a rare opportunity to start in a leadership position and pharmacist in charge of a brand new sterile compounding pharmacy startup. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the comprehensive management and strategic direction of pharmacy services, ensuring excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance. You will lead a dedicated team of pharmacy professionals, drive process improvements, and foster innovative business development initiatives to elevate the organization's pharmacy operations to new heights. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping a patient-centered environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Duties
- Assist ownership in the setup process.
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic planning to optimize pharmacy operations across multiple locations or departments.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team of pharmacists, technicians, and support staff through effective management and mentorship.
- Oversee daily pharmacy activities, including medication dispensing, inventory management, and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency, reduce errors, and improve patient safety outcomes.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote operational excellence, safety standards, and regulatory adherence.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align pharmacy services with organizational goals and community needs.
- Assist vendor negotiations and business development efforts to expand service offerings and improve supply chain efficiencies.
- Lead project management efforts for new initiatives such as technology upgrades or facility expansions.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational effectiveness and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and leadership development within the pharmacy team.
Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited institution; valid state of Tennessee licensure is required.
- Proven management experience in a pharmacy setting with demonstrated success in leading large teams or multiple locations.
- Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to translate organizational goals into actionable plans.
- Experience in senior leadership roles within healthcare or pharmacy operations is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills for vendor contracts, partnerships, and business development opportunities.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management, process improvement methodologies (such as Lean or Six Sigma), and operations management.
- Exceptional leadership qualities with the ability to motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive change.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements governing pharmacy practice at federal and state levels.
