Garden Center Installation Crew Leader

Summary/Objective

The Installation Manager is responsible for installation of plants purchased through the Garden Center. The Installation Manager is responsible for completing landscape and hardscape installations with great precision and business minded efficiency.

Essential Functions

Supervises and manages installation crew.

Ensures that each crew member is trained appropriately for each designated job assignment

Participates in and conducts all job site safety briefings with crew members

Ensures that all crew members utilize all required personal protective equipment

Understands and instructs crew members on proper job site security procedures

Ensures that all installation work is performed in accordance with industry and company standards

Ensures that all equipment safety and installation procedures are followed

Performs administrative functions pertaining to crew management

Interacts with clientele in order to help ensure job satisfaction

Understands financial aspects of each job assignment

Supervises all crew members during the performance of all assigned work

Leads by example

Reports for duty at the designated location on time each day

Follows directions from supervisor

Ensures that all safety rules and company safety policies are adhered to

Participates in all safety training sessions offered, asks questions, and improves job safety skills

Communicates well with all crew members, supervisor and client

Strives to improve job skills and develop the potential for upward mobility

Participates in company sponsored First Aid/CPR

Track and record all job expenses and hours worked accurately

Trains crew members the development in the best practices of installation in company standards

Direct activities on the job site, they include but are not limited to: coordinating work flow, hands on work, and operating a variety of machinery

Manage personnel effectively and efficiently.

Communicating production goals (and other items) with crew members, supervisors, and clients

Train and promote the development of subordinates in the best practices of installation and company standards

Monitor all tools, equipment and machinery for needed maintenance

Track and record all job expenses, including but not exclusively materials and hours worked

Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times

Supervisory Responsibility

The Installation Manager will supervise 1-3 installation crew. She/he is responsible for the below.

Delegating tasks.

Ensuring all company safety guidelines and regulations are followed.

Reporting daily progress to Nursery Manager.

Communicating job site needs.

Assisting with proper installation to include soil amendments.

Identifying aspects of design that may affect irrigation, gas lines, building foundations, drainage, etc.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have full range of mobility in upper and lower body; be able to reach overhead; be able to work in various positions, including stooping, standing, bending over, sitting, kneeling and squatting for extended periods of time; be able to lift, pull and push materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks; and be able to frequently lift 50 pounds of weight throughout the assigned workday.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Schedule fluctuates Monday through Saturday. Occasional overtime may be required.

Travel

Travel for this position is rare. The maximum amount of expected travel is 10% annually.

Required Education and Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.

2-4 years in landscape/garden center industry.

Preferred Education and Experience

5-10 years landscape industry preferred.

Associates or Bachelor degree in landscape design, horticulture or related field of study.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)

U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident, authorized to work in U.S. legally.
