About the Company

ESI serves over 361 post-acute care operations across 17 states, including skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and other ancillary service providers. These operations have no corporate headquarters or traditional management hierarchy. Instead, they operate

independently with support from the "Service Center," a world-class service team that provides centralized legal, human resource, training, accounting, information technology and other resources necessary to allow on-site leaders and caregivers to focus on day-to-day care and business issues.

About the Opportunity:

We are building a new team and seeking motivated, early-career developers who want to be part of shaping its success. This Jr. Software Developer-Automation Solutions role is designed for someone with a strong foundational skill set who is eager to learn, grow, and work across multiple areas, including development, testing, analysis, and solution design.

As part of this team, you will help design, build, and maintain automation solutions that support and improve business operations. You will gain exposure to multiple technologies, platforms, and business processes while contributing to high-impact projects.

You do not need years of experience; we are looking for someone with strong problem-solving skills, a willingness to learn, and the drive to take on challenges in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of automation solutions under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist in enhancing and modernizing existing applications, processes, and integrations.
  • Write, test, and maintain code in languages such as Python and
  • Support projects involving both on-premises systems and cloud platforms, particularly AWS.
  • Participate in data integration tasks, including connecting to SQL databases, APIs, and file-based data sources.
  • Help develop and configure workflows and applications using low-code and BPM platforms.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and participate in iterative improvements.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to refine and communicate your own ideas more effectively.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Education/Knowledge: Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or related field,or the ability to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and expertise in software design, development, and architecture.

  • Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on experience in software development, automation, or related technical work.

  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience with at least one programming language (Python, preferred).
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
  • Basic understanding of APIs and how to consume them.
  • Exposure to cloud services, preferably AWS.

  • Methodology: Familiarity with Agile or Scrum concepts and working in a team-based development environment.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to break down challenges into manageable parts and propose logical next steps.
  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • Nice to Have: Exposure to low-code tools, workflow automation platforms, or experience in accounting or healthcare environments.

Additional Information:

This full-time, exempt position will be based at our Service Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

We are committed to providing a competitive benefits and compensation package which includes a salary range of between $85,500 - $115,000 (DOE) and medical/dental/vision coverage, company-provided life insurance, 401(k) with company match, and sick/vacation plans.
