A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As the Sr Director of Global Trade Compliance and Logistics at MKS, you will lead end-to-end global trade compliance program and ensure adherence to U.S. and international import/export regulations across all business units. You will also oversee our global logistics strategy and transportation network. This role will be a key member of the Global Supply Chain leadership team, driving optimization across freight, warehousing, and import/export processes to support MKS's long-term growth.

You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Own and mature the global trade compliance program, including import/export controls, licensing, denied-party screening, classification (HTS/ECCN), country-of-origin determination, valuation, and recordkeeping.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. and international regulatory bodies (e.g., BIS, CBP, OFAC, EPA) and lead global readiness for audits, disclosures, and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and execute the global trade compliance and logistics strategy, aligning with business and supply chain objectives.
  • Oversee the Global Trade Compliance team, ensuring compliance with international import/export regulations.
  • Lead optimization of inbound and outbound freight activity, including shipment consolidation, mode selection, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive improvements in warehousing efficiency, inventory placement, and cubic space utilization across global facilities.
  • Use ABC/XYZ analysis to guide inventory location and stocking strategies.
  • Lead and mentor multisite teams (materials handling, shipping, receiving) to build a problem-solving, continuous improvement culture.
  • Deploy Lean tools (5S and standard work) to improve efficiency, safety, and quality in warehouse operations.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams in procurement, materials, and category management to align logistics strategy with overall supply chain goals.
  • Manage global budgets for freight, duties/tariffs, and packaging costs.
  • Travel up to 25% to oversee global operations and align regional teams.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; Master's degree preferred
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in trade compliance, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and international import/export regulations (BIS, CBP, OFAC; HTS/ECCN classification; licensing; FTZ; bonded operations).
  • Proven multisite, global leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success driving freight optimization, warehousing efficiency, and compliance improvements.
  • Strong leadership and team development skills across global locations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional and executive teams.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with E2Open or other Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
  • Proven track record of TMS implementation across multiple global sites
  • Deep expertise in global trade compliance leadership

Supervisory Scope:

  • Reporting Relationships: Reports to the VP of Global Supply Chain.
  • Financial Responsibilities: Global freight, duty, packaging costs.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary Pay Range: $155,900 to $289,500 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law. At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
