Hurstbourne Country Club is a premier private club in Louisville known for exceptional member service, competitive athletics, and a family-friendly environment. We are seeking a dynamic Head Swim Coach to lead our youth and family aquatics programming and elevate the overall member experience.

Role Overview

The Head Swim Coach will design and lead a fun, safe, and competitive program for swimmers of all ages and abilities, with a strong emphasis on fundamentals, sportsmanship, and team culture. This role partners closely with our Pool and Clubhouse leadership to deliver an organized, high-energy program that members love.

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily practices for multiple age/ability groups; deliver clear instruction, stroke development, and progressive training plans.
  • Coach at dual and championship meets; handle entries, line-ups, warm-ups, and on-deck leadership.
  • Recruit, schedule, mentor, and evaluate assistant coaches; foster a positive, accountable staff culture.
  • Communicate proactively with parents and swimmers (weekly updates, meet info, expectations, recognition).
  • Build a welcoming team culture—traditions, spirit wear, volunteer coordination, and celebrations.
  • Manage safe, organized deck operations (equipment, timelines, warm-ups, lane assignments).
  • Collaborate with Club leadership on budgeting, apparel, meet fees, and calendar alignment.
  • Uphold all safety protocols and coordinate with lifeguards and management on risk management.
  • Develop off-season clinics/privates to keep swimmers engaged and progressing.

What You'll Bring

  • Prior coaching experience with age-group/youth swimmers (country club, rec, high school, or USA Swimming).
  • Strong teaching ability across all four competitive strokes; proven success building skills and confidence.
  • Excellent communication and member-service mindset; calm, professional presence on deck.
  • Organizational strength for scheduling, meet administration, and staff/parent coordination.
  • Current certifications CPR/AED & First Aid required; SafeSport/Abuse Prevention training and Lifeguard Certification required, USA Swimming Coach credentials preferred.

Schedule & Term

  • Seasonal primary term: late May – early August (practice and meet schedule, including some evenings/weekends).
  • Pre-season planning begins in spring; optional clinics/privates in fall/winter.

Job Type: Seasonal

Base Pay: $ $22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 38 per week
