Virtual Learning Tasmania is an online delivery service based at Tasmanian eSchool (Launceston and Hobart campuses), which delivers senior secondary courses to students across Department for Education, Children and Young People (DECYP) schools statewide. What Does a Big Picture Advisor Do?
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) for each student, co-created with families, mentors, and the student themselves.
- Facilitate authentic project-based and inquiry learning, both online and in the wider community.
- Build strong relationships with students both online and in person and supporting their growth as confident, independent learners.
- Guide students through Learning Through Internship (LTI) experiences, helping them connect with mentors and explore their passions in real-world contexts and online.
- Create a safe, trusting, and collaborative learning environment online that encourages risk-taking, reflection, and personal growth.

- Fixed term, full time from 2 February 2026 to 18 December 2026
- 70 hours per fortnight
Essential
We are looking for:
- Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (RWVP) with a registration Status – Employment.
- A registered teacher with full registration within the meaning of the Teachers Registration Act 2000.
- Current certificate of registration; or provisional registration; or limited authority to teach granted by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania) in accordance with the provisions of the Teachers Registration Act 2000. Please note that a person with a limited authority to teach can only be employed on a fixed-term basis.
Under the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award.
Classification and progression are based upon training, qualifications, and satisfactory performance.
- Progression to Band 1 Level 13 requires an employee to have been at Band 1 Level 12 for 12 months or more and have full teacher registration as certified by the Teachers Registration Board (Tasmania).
Desirable
We are looking for teachers who:
Have experience with online learning systems and digital pedagogies.
- Uses trauma-informed practices in their teaching.
- Value collaboration and professional growth.
- Are curious, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Have completed four years or more training as defined in the Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award 2005.
