Rate/Salary:
A reasonable estimate of the current pay range for this position is $80 to $90 hourly (W2/C2C). Actual pay will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs, and will be set by your employer. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in base pay.

Job Description:

A leading technology solutions provider is seeking a
Proxy Engineer – Infrastructure & Automation
for a 12-month contract role in
Texas or New Jersey
, as part of its Strategic Resourcing Services and staff augmentation efforts.

In this role, the selected consultant will work directly with a WWT client, supporting their internal team and business objectives. While the position is facilitated by the provider, the consultant will be employed by one of its preferred partner organizations, which will provide complete details regarding compensation and benefits before employment.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Proxy Engineer to design, implement, and optimize secure web gateway environments while driving automation and process efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical proficiency with a strong problem-solving and continuous-improvement mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineer and optimize proxy infrastructure for performance, reliability, and compliance.
  • Conduct proxy code certification, feature enablement, and performance tuning.
  • Automate operational workflows using Python, Shell, or Ansible.
  • Collaborate with internal and client teams to align engineering efforts with strategic goals.
  • Troubleshoot complex proxy incidents and perform root cause analysis.
  • Partner with vendors to evaluate new features and performance enhancements.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, runbooks, and implementation templates.
  • Support security investigations using SIEM tools and proxy logs.
  • Participate in change management and design reviews.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in Hands-on expertise with installation, migration, and management of proxy technologies, including Broadcom/Symantec Blue Coat, Secure Web Gateway, Symantec Content Analysis, SSL Visibility, or similar tools.
  • Hands-on experience with secure web gateway technologies and SSL visibility platforms.
  • Familiarity with SaaS-based secure gateway platforms.
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, firewalls).
  • Proficiency in automation and scripting (Python, Shell, Ansible).
  • Experience with REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD practices.
  • Skilled in using SIEM tools for diagnostics and investigations.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities; comfortable working independently.
