Pea Pod Nutrition and Lactation Support is seeking a passionate and highly skilled Registered Dietitian to join our outpatient team.   • Core Focus: Family Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, and Women's Health Nutrition.
  • Essential Mindset: You must be proficient in non-diet and weight-neutral approaches. Preferred candidates will have knowledge and experience working with or screening for disordered eating.

Key Responsibilities (Job Description)

The Outpatient Dietitian will provide compassionate, individualized, and group Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) counseling using the Nutrition Care Process (NCP).

Client Care:

  • Develop personalized nutrition care plans and set goals for patients with diverse medical diagnoses, including diabetes, metabolic syndrome, heart disease, abnormal weight gain, failure to thrive, and more.
  • Counsel individuals and families in private sessions or dynamic group settings (in-office and via telehealth).

Practice Development:

  • Author, create, and maintain current, science-backed nutrition education materials and resources (e.g., Substack articles, podcast content, patient handouts).
  • Conduct nutrition research and deliver wellness classes or public presentations on relevant health topics.
  • Contribute to departmental policies and procedures as the practice evolves.

Required Qualifications & Credentials

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Food and Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related health field.
  • Successful completion of a CADE-approved dietetic internship.
  • Passage of the Registration Examination for Dietitians.
  • Must be credentialed and in good standing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
  • Must obtain and maintain current licensure in the State of Georgia to practice nutrition therapy.
  • Commitment to completing 75 CEUs every 5 years per CDR standards.
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience in an outpatient clinic setting (new graduates who align with our HAES philosophy will be considered).

Practical Requirements

  • Position Status: PRN (As Needed). Weekly hours range from 0 to 20 hours.
  • Work Environment: Primarily outpatient setting (Decatur or Atlanta office) and via telehealth.
  • Availability: Must be available for a flexible schedule that includes some evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Skills:
  • Proficient in behavioral change theories, such as Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
  • Strong knowledge of HAES principles and non-diet counseling.
  • Ability to work independently, teach effectively (one-on-one and groups), and give public presentations.
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Microsoft Office Suite, and internet research.
  • Language Preference: Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly preferred.
