Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our General Family Practice. The ideal candidate will support the clinical team by providing exceptional chairside assistance, ensuring infection control, and maintaining accurate medical and dental records. This role offers an opportunity to work in a small family-centered environment, utilizing classic dental procedures and fostering a positive experience for patients.
Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of procedures including a variety of general dental procedures.
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring aseptic technique and infection control standards are maintained.
- Take digital dental X-rays, while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Record vital signs and medical history information accurately in electronic health records (EMR systems: OpenDental).
- Manage medical documentation and coding for procedures performed, ensuring compliance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Provide patient education on oral health care, post-treatment instructions, and preventive practices.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and managing medical records as needed.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a dental clinic setting is preferred; certification in dental assisting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with EMR system OpenDental preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques is required.
- Familiarity with dental terminology is essential.
- Experience with chairside assisting is essential.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely and effectively; certification in radiography is preferred (we will provide certification if needed).
- Strong understanding of anatomy relevant to dentistry and medical imaging techniques.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages and team members. This position offers an engaging environment where your skills contribute directly to patient care excellence while supporting the overall success of our practice.
Our office works four days per week and alternates between working Monday-Thursday and Tuesday-Friday. Every other weekend we take a four-day weekend.

Previous experience as a dental assistant is a must.
